lights

Professor made an interesting observation in class about the current state of animation techniques. They plateaued out on new techniques about a decade ago but it has become more about how to use the tools interestingly. I think a great example of this is the lighting in Toy Story 4 and the octopus in Finding Dory. I wonder if the next advancement in animation will be with technology related to NeRF or Diffusion Models to generate new unseen characters or simulations.

I think what artists want is not "new unseen", but generating something that is controllable and tweakable. Maybe Diffusion + Procedural Generation in the future?
