Since physics engines play a large role in the simulation of 3D motion (such as in softbody and fluid models, which the animation on this slide reminded me of), how much of a role will physical simulation play in this course? That is, physical interactions outside the physics of light, which of course we will be interested in.

@Kuragama We'll talk a bunch about physically based animation in the latter part of the course. That includes fundamentals like ODEs and PDEs (which you may have touched on in your math classes) as well as their application to things like particle systems, fluid simulation, etc. You'll also implement some basic physically-based stuff (akin to the animation on this slide) in Assignment 4.
