I'm a physics major, so seeing the water move the sand simulation in this video was really cool because it looked like it was a mix of computer graphics and physics!
@ljelenak Absolutely. Physics (and specifically, mechanics) has become an enormous part of graphics, and over time we're seeing things move from ad-hoc phenomenological models toward physically accurate models. For a particularly fascinating example, check out this paper called Schroedinger's Smoke which uses ideas from quantum mechanics to develop efficient and accurate methods for fluid simulation. Of course, physics has always been a big part of graphics in the context of light transport; we'll get to see a lot of this stuff in our course as well!
