Interesting video I happened to be watching before class that goes over perception. He talks about our blind spot (including how to test it), why we get tunnel vision, and a test for how to see the shadows cast by the veins in your eyes.
If that last test doesn't work well for you, another way you can do it is to turn on your phone flashlight, close one eye, look up, and move the light around underneath your open eye. You should notice some grey wisps stretching across your view - those are the veins in your eye!
