Some of the cool scenes Pixar attempted to render for Coco.
The scenes were initially so complex they wouldnt work on the old version of renderman. Due to the efforts of the various teams on Pixar, the rendertime was reduced from 1000 hours per frame to 50 hours.
I wonder why this frame takes 50hrs to render?
We have splendid video games on platforms like PS4 or Steam, and many of them are with a render quality even better than this. But it seems to me the render of the video game frames are instant on my computer. What's the difference between these 2 renderings? Why are cg movies rendering so slow?

@lockbrains movie animation is often a lot smoother and more detailed than game animation. I think game rendering uses a lot of MipMapping, which doesn't give the level of polish needed for a big screen picture
