It's crazy to think that Pixar delivered such a high quality CG feature film when it was the first one ever. Looking back on this, I really wouldn't be able to notice many strong differences between this and ones generated today.

Even though Toy Story hasn't aged the best, it's still extremely surprising to find out that it was the first real CG feature film. From the looks it would seem like it had a lot of experience behind it in the genre, but just looking it up now it seems like a lot of research and innovation in CG happened just for this movie, which is pretty cool. It's reminiscent of the reading about Star Wars and alpha, where it turns out that a lot of the progress in graphics was made with specific movies/corporate projects in mind.

Yeah, it's pretty impressive that the first CG movie was actually a good movie. Like, I still enjoy watching it. Especially since, these days, "awesome" CG is often used as an excuse for bad acting, plot, script, etc.
