Why is the horizontal coordinate u = x/z?

doge

Do we assume that the camera has unit size throughout this course? Also, only the distance from c to image on the z-axis matters, right?

rilakkuma

To calculate the horizontal coordinate, you can think of putting the two similar triangles on the horizontal plane, so we could get u/1=x/z.

msfernan

To add to what @rilakkuma said, you can imagine the x axis coming out/going into of the paper and the horizontal coordinate u being a value on the line parallel to the x axis coming out/going into the paper .
