Is n the new vertex degree with the subdivisions? or before?
For a vertex of the original mesh, it's the same before and after.
What's 1/8 and 3/8 stand for?

I found the paper. Couldnt understand the derivation. Let me know if someone can figure it out especially the simple case.
I'm having trouble working out the math here. What is n in this example? I can't seem to understand how to produce 1/8 and 3/8
I think subdiving is also useful when some local mesh operations cause vertices in a polygon to not lie within a same plane.
