So on my computer screen, the entire color shape is actually the smaller triangle, if the color space was viewed in reality, right? So that diagram is only a representation of the color space, and not the actual mappings?

How expensive is it to compute in the CIE 1934 color space? If it is the most comprehensive in capturing the human-visible color space, why do we still use color schemes like RGB (i.e. in HTML) in computing?
