Are there different ways we can add randomness to the textures to make it look more natural? Or do we just assume that an audience will not look carefully enough to notice that its repetitive?

Is there any convention / tricks to blend two adjacent textures? The provided textures in this slide blend very well with each other, but what happens if that's not the case?
