When we cut off the low frequencies, the edges of the images got darker as well. Is this because the edge of the image is also considered as "high frequency"?


In terms of sampling the image, low frequencies components represent smooth areas while high frequencies components represent the edges. Is that right?


Why are all the low frequencies in the center of the spectrum? Are we ignoring the position of the frequency data?
