Do we always have to sample in regular intervals? Would a randomized sampling procedure yield better interpolation results on average?

@rlpo Randomized, perhaps not, but certainly focusing samples near interesting parts of the signal can help. On the other hand, if you haven't measured the signal yet, then you don't know what the interesting parts are!

Interesting, what would be an example of sampling near the interesting parts? It seems like the local minima and maxima are good sampling points.
