Interesting, normally when I think of optimization I think solely of minimization of a value, not minimizing differences or anything like this.

@bcagan Yeah, in graphics it's often the minimizing point, and not the minimal value, that you're really interested in. Here for instance, the minimizing "point" is a vector describing (say) all the vertex positions of the mesh.
