The quality here is already pretty low and clearly we can't take 3.6 seconds to render a frame while playing video games. How simplified is lighting in video games? Or is lighting rarely computed and surfaces usually just emit their own light.

It was my understanding that, for the most part, video games use rasterization + fancy tricks as opposed to actual ray tracing.
