@ziqichen Exactly, this is about absorbing light at a certain frequency/color/wavelength. Remember that color can be described in terms of either its wavelength (as shown in the plot) or frequency, where frequency = c / wavelength and c is the speed of light. A material that is black would correspond to a plot where all frequencies are absorbed 100%, and a material that is pure white might correspond to a plot where all frequencies absorb no light at all (i.e., 0%).
